How to know if the custom cellar rack suitable?
After the wine cellar construction, the next step is to find a reliable and considerate wine cellar rack designer. The cellar owner will always consult with several designers or makers about how to design the cellar racks. How to know if the custom cellar rack design suitable and how to select the best one? Let’s talk about it.
- Is the capacity of the cellar rack enough?
Almost all the cellar rack designers will ask the owner about their request for capacity. And sometimes, the price of the wine rack is also depended on the capacity. Based on the construction plan of the wine cellar, the designer can draft a rough design and calculate the capacity. Since in different wine rack models, the capacity per square meter is slightly different. Cellar rack designer can arrange the racks well and make sure the final capacity reaches the client’s request. But a better designer will reserve more capacity for clients, so the client no worries about where to store the new-coming wines.
- Is there space for bottles not standard?
Lots of the wines in the current markets are filled into standard 750ml bottles and the standard wine racks are designed to fit these regular bottles. But sometimes, they are not fitted to the irregular bottles or the bigger ones, like 1.5L champagne or magnum. A good cellar rack designer will also ask the owners if they need storage for big bottles. Even the clients don’t have such requests currently, the cellar rack designers should plan some box bins or diamond bins, in case the cellar owner will need such space for those irregular bottles in the future.
- Is the walking path too narrow?
Most of the home-used wine cellar is not big. If the cellar racks are put all around the walls, or there is an island or tasting table in the center, as a cellar owner, you’d better ask the designer how wide the walking path is. If it’s less than 70cm, then it’s not convenient for you to walk through, or taking wine bottles out. This is a quite inconspicuous mistake that, only until the racks are fixed and they walk by, they will notice it. A good supplier will notice it in advance and change the rack design to avoid it.
When you are looking for a good wine rack supplier, ask them for a wine rack design draft for your cellar, then you can have a better decision.
