Wine rack renovation – from metal rack to wooden rack

In this case study, I’d like to talk about a wine rack renovation case in Australia.

The wine racks are placed in several arched-shaped niches. The existing wine racks are the composable metal racks, which is a kind of wine rack popular in recent years. By composing the slim metal plates with wood bars, this kind of wine rack can be fitted for different sizes and location. It also has some disadvantages that, the metal part may get rusty after long-term using; the metal plate may not be strong enough to carry too many bottles of wine; it’s not convenient to put boxes in or above; the edge of metal plate may get people hurt. And this wine rack renovation is aimed to replace the metal rack and fix the solid wood rack instead.

Since it’s not a renovation based on the existing rack, but an overall replacement, we don’t need to take all the wine bottles out at first but need to measure the dimension of each niche. Until the new racks are done and arrived, we’ll replace the wine bottles one by one to finish this wine rack renovation.

The layout of the new wine rack still follows the previous full-racking design and a solid wood tabletop is added on each rack, providing space for wine boxes or wine tasting. We don’t make the wine racks at site, all the racks are tailored and assembled at the workshop and pile them up at site instead.
